# Enable Interactive Desktop for first time

Hi Supporter, I want to enable the Interactive Desktop, but your guideline is confusing and difficult to understand. Could you please provide a more detailed and easier-to-follow instruction on how to enable it?

I’m running Ubuntu 22.04, and my Open OnDemand version is 4.0.0. I’m using Slurm as the scheduler. After reading the documentation at [https://osc.github.io/ood-documentation/latest/enable-desktops.html](https://osc.github.io/ood-documentation/latest/enable-desktops.html), I still don’t understand what I need to do. I’m not sure what exactly I need to install

Have you stepped through the “Setup Interactive Apps” section that is highlighted in the big red box at that top of the enable desktops page and that Travis linked to? If so, can you verify it works per section 3.3 of that setup?
