# How to change virtual host

Hi All,  
Is there a way to specify the virtual host in the `<VirtualHost>` section of `/opt/rh/httpd24/root/etc/httpd/conf.d/ood-portal.conf` in `/etc/ood/config/ood_portal.yml`?

We would like to set the virtual host to a static ip address (like `<VirtualHost x.x.x.x:80>`). Since it’s not recommended to change the file `/opt/rh/httpd24/root/etc/httpd/conf.d/ood-portal.conf` directly, how is one supposed to configure that?

I have similar instructions here. Please make backups! That said, in 1.7 you’ll be able to specify the template you’re using so it’s less dangerous. Let us know if you run into issues.
