# Interactive desktop can't be launched on Open OnDemand v2.0.32 on Ubuntu 20.04.6

Hi Support,
I always can’t launch the interactive desktop on Open OnDemand v2.0.32 on Ubuntu 20.04.6 with the following error messages:-
\*(mate-hud:2146356): dconf-CRITICAL \*_: 16:28:26.206: unable to create directory ‘/run/user/10659/dconf’: Permission denied. dconf will not work properly._
\*(mate-hud:2146356): dconf-CRITICAL \*_: 16:28:26.218: unable to create directory ‘/run/user/10659/dconf’: Permission denied. dconf will not work properly._
\*(mate-hud:2146356): dconf-CRITICAL \*_: 16:28:26.225: unable to create directory ‘/run/user/10659/dconf’: Permission denied. dconf will not work properly._

When I have manually changed the permission to 757 on the path /run/user, the problem can be resolved.
However, I have to fall back the permission to 755 for the path due to security concern.
By the way, there is no problem for the interactive desktop on Rocky version 8.6, I don’t need manually to change the permission to 757 on the path /run/user on Rocky version 8.6.
What is the cause of the problem on Ubuntu 20.04.6?

Hey sorry for the issue.
I’m not sure what is happening or why on Ubuntu 20.04. I found an older discourse that mentions this error, but it’s kind of old so I’m not sure it touches on this problem:

I’ll try to play around more on my end to replicate this in Ubuntu 20.04 and see what I can find.
