Until now we have been dealing with local clusters, and the nodes with OOD are also Slurm clients. I was wondering if there is a way to expose external clusters managed by an independent institution in OOD.

I doubt it. There are a couple things we need - namely a HOME drive that’s the same on the webserver as it is on the compute node. I don’t think an external institution would fit that. If you could somehow finagle that, then you’d need to solve user mapping from OOD to the external cluster with credentials like an ssh key.
