GOOD 2025 Recap: Resources for Using MATLAB with Open OnDemand

Hi everyone,

As many of you are aware, the first-ever GOOD (Global Open OnDemand) Conference was held about a month ago at Harvard University. If you were there, perhaps you had a chance to attend the talk that Lisa Kempler and I gave, entitled “Integrating MATLAB with OOD: New Tools to Boost Usage and Improve User Experience”.

In our talk, we discussed:

  • The benefits of using the matlab-proxy package to integrate MATLAB with Open OnDemand
  • How you can offer access to MATLAB via Jupyter using this repo
  • Using GPUs with MATLAB through the OOD interface
  • Some of the parallel computing options for MATLAB
  • Free learning resources to host on your site on key topics, such as AI/ML, signal processing, medical imaging, programming best practices, visualization and more

Since the conference, we’ve heard from several folks in the community looking for the links and other resources that we shared during the talk. All the resources and a copy of the slides are available here.

If you are interested in learning more about updating the user offerings on your site, please email me (Nick.Choi@mathworks.com) so we can connect.

Thanks,
