Ubuntu NodeJS apt changes happening today

Hi all - the folks who provide our nodejs packages for Debian based distros changed their repository structures today.

If you issue apt update or similar on these systems they may start to fail because the old repositories no longer exist. There’s a link below for the same.

We’re working on updating 3.0.x to use the new repository. OSC doesn’t run Debian/Ubuntu systems so it’s not clear to us if you should actually follow these steps or not or just wait for the next OnDemand version. I’ll be testing this out a bit in containers.

It’s likely safer to wait for our update, but I’ll update this topic when I have new information.

We’re finding that (luckily) 3.0 release is unaffected by this as the nodesource team seems to have preserved older versions of Node.
