Enable rsync as a file transfer option

When the Files window is open in OOD, we have several options for moving files around - Upload, Download, Globus. Is there any possibility of adding a option of exporting files through rsync? This would obviously need parameters for the remote username, remote host, and possibly a password. Or is this service better suited as an application?

Regarding the application approach, maybe an app for something like Grsync would be straightforward way to get this capability.
