Hi! Can the recording of Aday’s presentation of OnDemand Loop please be made available? I’d love to link to it from DataverseTV. Thanks!

The August call recording is at August 7 2025 - Google Drive

The September Tips and Tricks call is this Thursday. It will be an open mic session focusing on classroom solutions with Open OnDemand. Karen Tomko from OSC, who is leading the GOODLUCK effort around classroom solution, will be starting the discussion.

As usual, the time is 1pm ET, 12pm CT, 11am MT, 10am PT. If you haven’t registered for the call, register and get the link at Meeting Registration - Zoom.

September call video and slides are at September 4 2025 - Google Drive . We have a few leads for October, and will announce the topic once they solidify. Thanks everyone for attending and contributing.

In the October call, on 10/2, Sean Anderson from Wake Forest University will talk about

Multitenant Apps: LLMs, Databases, Dashboards, and other shared services within Open OnDemand

The Multitenant Apps framework was developed for supporting LLMs, databases, and other services on traditional, job-based HPC infrastructure through Open OnDemand (OOD). It allows for controlled and secure sharing of these services between select users, and can greatly reduce hardware overhead since users share the same resources. It is also an effective method for delivering content to users within the OOD interface, which is especially useful within classrooms, research groups, and even departments.

Would it be possible to make the recording available? Thanks in advance!

Thanks again to the TAMU team for a great presentation on their OOD Dashboard. The recording is at November 6 2025 - Google Drive , the GitHub repo is at GitHub - tamu-edu/dor-hprc-HPCMosaic: Modular dashboard for HPC users to manage their resources.

Anyone interested in future presentations, please, let us know.

The Asia Tips and Tricks call is happening at 7pm EDT Dec 1 TODAY, 1pm NZDT Dec 2 (tomorrow)! Thanks to our colleagues at DoIT Now for organizing.

Topic: Deep learning meta-package with a Jupyterlab frontend for Open OnDemand

Speaker: Dr. Michael Coe (University of Canterbury)

Inspired by the PyGILE-Plus docker image, which is a meta-package of Geographic Information Systems, we developed a meta-package for deep learning applications. This package uses the Mamba Package Manager to create an environment with many packages for deep learning applications and containerizes this environment in a singularity file. This presentation will take a deep dive into the singularity definition file, how it is set-up for GPU support and how it is implemented as an interactive app in Open OnDemand.

Would it be possible to make the recording available? Thanks in advance!

The US December call video is at December 4 2025 - Google Drive. We’ll resume the first Thursday of February. Happy holidays.

It’s February, time for Tips and Tricks call. This Thursday, Feb 5th at 1pm ET / 12pm CT / 11am MT / 10am PT

David Young, Ph.D.
Alabama Supercomputer Center

OODSubmitWrapper, an Open OnDemand add on created at the Alabama Supercomputer Center

An open source extension to Open OnDemand implements an alternative Job Composer template format. The alternative format requires fewer lines of input, and no #PBS or #SBATCH directives. It can also include application specific input validation. We will look at what it does, how it is implemented, and how to install it.

Looking forward to seeing you all after the holiday break.

EMEA Tips and Tricks call is starting this Thursday: Feb 5th at 4PM CET / 10 AM EST / 7 AM PST

Christian Bustelo from Do IT Now will give a short presentation about the evolution of OOD and real-life cases

We are presenting the evolution of the Open OnDemand deployment, starting with simple installations on local clusters and progressively scaling to larger environments. As Open OnDemand became a critical service, the focus shifted toward ensuring service availability rather than increasing compute capacity, particularly in the presence of login node failures.
Two high-availability scaling models will be discussed. Focusing on the good points and the problems that can appear for each of models.

We don’t have any presentation lined up for March Tips and Tricks, but we will still meet, to give the OOD team opportunity to go over the recent release and planned future releases, followed by some tips from the Salt Lake City locals to make the best out of the GOOD26 conference.

The usual time, first Thursday of the month at 1pm ET/ 12pm CT / 11am MT / 10am PT.
