What's the best way to test ondemand-apps?

We are looking to test ondemand-apps, I see posts like this one, discussing selenium.
Are there better alternate ways? As of now, we are not looking to test the functionalities within the app but just if the apps are launching correctly without issues, so just curious if there are other ways we could possibly test this scenario.

I don’t know of any better solution than what Jeff posted in the reference posting.

Yea that’s about it. You have to interact with the webpage and I believe selenium is likely your best bet to do so.
