Dartmouth is fairly new to OOD so we’re coming at it with fresh eyes. We are wondering if it would be an improvement to change the language users see under the “Help” menu where it says “Restart Web Server”.
Although I agree this is technically correct, it has prompted people to ask questions like:
Is this safe to do and will I affect other users?
Why does my account have this ability?
When do I need to do this?
From a user perspective, I wonder if changing the wording on this to be something like “Restart Web Session” would make this more clear to the user about who is affected (just them) and when you should do it (when something gets hung up).
Is there a consensus of people who think changing this wording would be benefiticial to users?
Hey Jeff,
I am trying to fix this again. We had it fixed before, but then we moved many of our apps into git repositories, and it broke again. The link you provided to the customization to this file /etc/ood/config/locales/en.yml is that where we would modify the phrase? I feel like when I did this the first time that it wasn’t where I modified it and there is a lot of noise in that yml file. It’s almost as if the documentation is a bit different then when I last looked but I am not too sure.
