Open OnDemand tips and tricks calls

@mcuma This might be a good opportunity to move this over to the OOD Google shared drive. We should discuss offline.

I have waited too long to look for a speaker for tomorrow’s call, and don’t have any. Let’s cancel the June T&T call, and a reminder that we also won’t hold the July call as it’s right before the Independence Day weekend.
We’ll reconvene in August. If anyone has anything they want to present, please, let me know.

https://um-grex.github.io/docs/workshops/ood2026/ood_connection_security.pdf is the corrected link (we have re-based the docs site URL)

FYI, the call recordings from February 2026 on are on OSC’s Google Drive, at 2026 - Google Drive

Supporting Interactive Graphical Applications with ThinLinc in Open OnDemand
Mattias Reuterskiöld, William Sjöblom, and Robert Henschel - Cendio

We will introduce ThinLinc and how to use it together with Open OnDemand. ThinLinc is a Linux terminal server solution that is used at HPC centers around the world to support access to interactive graphical Linux applications. The ThinLinc and OOD teams are working together to integrate ThinLinc into OOD, and we’ll go over the technical work and the integration’s features, as well as share our insights into the Wayland/X situation. We will also demo of the current beta release.

Dear all, the EMEA Tips and Tricks for August is cancelled.

See you in September!

hi, do you think there will be published recording from this call? I’d be happy to see how ThinLinc works and looks nowadays

Hi Jose,

all the recordings and slide decks (where available) can be found here.

The link is also present in the form.

Best,
Erica

Great, let’s plan on that. If you don’t take the whole hour I would initialize a community discussion on how sites support LLMs with OOD.

I remember this talk (or was it a different one? it covered Open Weights models too) which I attended, but I can’t find a link to the recording. Was it not recorded?

Meta-question: all these recordings appear as separate directories in my Google Drive with just their data and no OOD name in them (which may be the reason I can’t find this one). @mcuma I suppose this is your Google Drive that you are sharing, right? If so, I assume you store these directories inside a parent which contains them all, perhaps called OOD Tips and Tricks calls. If that’s the case, can you please share that parent instead which will make our file management so much easier? Thanks a lot for considering this suggestion!

Not sure if this will be helpful or not, but I just created a URL redirect at Tips and Tricks - Google Drive that points to the top level of the Google Drive we use to store all recordings from the various Tips and Tricks calls.

Hello Martin,

I would like to present in August if possible.
It is about using Open Ondemand for full scale natural language agentic interface to HPC.

Or if August doesn’t turn up to be a good time - I am good with September too.
Let me know what works best.

Regards,
Lohit

Hi Lohit, thanks, August would be great. We don’t have any speaker. Please, reply with the topic name and abstract and we’ll go from there. Let me know if you need help with the logistics. Thanks.

We had a plan for a call this month, but the presenter has a critical issue to deal with. We will reschedule today’s call for next month. Thanks for understanding.
